SONY SUGGESTS A SETTLEMENT

In a bid to put its disater of copy protection behind it, Sony have made an offer to put things right with people who bought a CD with their malware on it - depending on how badly their product could have mangled your computer, you'd stand to get anything between a replacement disc, and a package of replacement disc, $7.50 cash and a free download version of a Sony-BMG album.

We wonder if any astute Sony shareholders will be working out what this will cost the company for the millions of discs that have been sold. And how much the copy-protection business would have "saved" in the first place.
