BONO CLOSE TO THE EDGE

Why is it that we find it hard to believe Bono when he claims he's afraid his anti-poverty campaigning will get him kicked out of U2?:

The singer - who along with Bob Geldof fronted this year's Make Poverty History campaign - said his work had "raised eyebrows" among fellow band-members.

"They're hugely supportive but they're in a rock 'n' roll band and the first job of a rock 'n' roll band is not to be dull," he said.

"When I do my rant on making poverty history, I have got Larry Mullen, our drummer, behind me looking at his watch, timing me."

That's right, Bono - we imagine Larry and... whatsisname, the other one who has a proper name, him... they'd get together and throw you out of U2. Why, they've probably already had talks with Chico from the X-Factor about drafting him in as a replacement.

"Larry Mullen, our drummer..." - isn't that worth a smack in the face by itself? Might have well have said: "Despite being one of the world's biggest groups for 20 years, I'd better tell you his job, 'cause I know by just saying Larry Mullen, you might not know who I'm talking about. He's in the band y'know."
Charlie Watts knows how to deal with that sort of ego. - Elvis.
