SAVE THE BANDSTAND

You might think that a bandstand would be the last thing that would drag Belle and Sebastian, Franz Ferdinand and Teenage Fanclub out to play a charity gig. But the one they're fighting to save, Glasgow's Kelvingrove bandstand is a bit more than your usual bit of Victoriana. It's a loved local landmark. It also needs half a million to be saved.

You might wonder how such a landmark could have fallen into such a state of disrepair and disuse. Well, it's in the middle of Glasgow, remember:

The concert itself won't be held at the Glasgow landmark because of the dodgy weather.

Perhaps they should be thinking about putting a roof over it so it can be used on days when the weather in Glasgow isn't quite so bad.

Half a Million? For a bandstand? You could buy half of glasgow for that.
