A TIE-IN TOO FAR

We can just about see why they might cut a deal between American Idol and, say, Coke, to do a joint promotion. Sure, everyone involved will go to hell, but it makes a kind of sense. But why on earth would they decide to launch American Idol branded toothpaste?

Because it's usually white and almost totally made of flavourless filler. And so is toothpaste.

Haven't half of the American Idol winners been black? Not that I'm disagreeing on the "flavourless filler" part. Apart from that Kelly Clarkson obviously...
