KT TUNSTALL: PULL BACK THE COVERS

You have to find yourself nodding in some agreement with KT Tunstall's attack on cover versions and talent shows:

"It's a bit of a backlash on my part against the TV talent show thing, which is all covering other people's songs and it just feels like butchering really good music.

"Unless you do something special with it. It just feels like recording someone else's song so it sells more. And I just don't respect that.

"I think it's really wrong. It's a cop-out, it's cheap and it's cheapening."

"If there's a famous song that people are attached to, people have memories that go with that and it's like 'leave it alone for heavens sake'," she added.

"So for me I don't really want to be part of that culture. I still feel like I'm making my mark about who I am and what I do. I've got plenty of my own songs to put on an album."

So, since KT has composed, or jointly composed, all the tracks on her album, we can expect her to turn down all the money she ever gets offered for people recording cover versions of them in the future, then?

We'll keep an eye on this one.
