BLUNT ENDING TO A ROMANCE

There are pieces of cheese, and there is fromage du jour. James Blunt has blamed "pressures of work" for dumping his partner of two years - because that's a valid reason for ending a relationship, Blunt: "it's not you, it's just really hard to work you into my Outlook calendar." Presumably he'd have dumped her by text, but worked out that a phonecall would be more cost-effective.

Now Camilla - who has fled to Spain to escape the pain of the split - has told friends she is devastated that the gentle lover who used to serenade her with a guitar has turned into a selfish "egomaniac".

And she says it "breaks her heart" to hear the song that has earned Blunt £2.5million. "I'll walk out of a bar if it's on - it tears me apart," she told a friend.

Well, yes, we're exactly the same as you on that one, although we tend to slap the bar manager first as well.

Friends are on hand to stir, erm, comment:

And another friend - whose cottage Camilla is staying at in Spain and who would only give her name as Harriet - added: "Camilla is very upset about the whole thing. She is such a nice person, and she wouldn't want to bad-mouth her ex-boyfriend."

The mystery of that anonymous friend is going to keep Camilla and Blunt puzzling for a while: she must be staying in simply thousands of cottages in Spain owned by Harriets.
