DIXIE CHICK CANCELS APOLOGY
First, they did what Bono wouldn't, and condemned George Bush.
Then, they issued a craven apology.
Now, the Dixie Chicks' Natalie Maines is apologising for apologising:
"I don't feel that way anymore," she told Time magazine for its issue hitting newsstands Monday. "I don't feel he is owed any respect whatsoever."
And it's not just Bush - they've got a taste for iconoclasm; they're even taking on Country royalty:
For band member Martie Maguire, the controversy was a blessing in disguise.
"I'd rather have a small following of really cool people who get it, who will grow with us as we grow and are fans for life, than people that have us in their five-disc changer with Reba McEntire and Toby Keith," Maguire said. "We don't want those kinds of fans. They limit what you can do."
They'll be telling kids to stay out of school, next.

It's lucky that this dramatic change of heart came about in the run-up to the release of the new album, or we might never have heard about it... oh.
publicity stunt or not, i think what she said was awesome
I think it's more to do with the fact that pretty much nobody likes Bush anymore, whereas when she made her initial statment he still had a lot of support. I do notice a lack of kicks burning cds in response this time...
That'd be hicks...
