CREAMFIELDS BOGGED DOWN
Creamfields' decision to relocate from Liverpool to Runcorn was already looking dodgy; now the licence they need from Halton council is looking even more wobbly as Warrington, the next council along, has objected. Warrington reckons that the event will break their own noise regulations, as Warringtonians would be able to hear the music after 11 o'clock.
For Cream, James Barton is still optimistic:
"Our track record shows that we have the necessary expertise for staging and managing a major outdoor event, allowing thousands of people to enjoy themselves in a safe and secure environment, while effectively minimising the disruption for those living nearby.
"We have had a tremendous response from people in Halton and Warrington supporting the event. The business community, who will see the economic benefits, are also right behind it."
Ah, so as long as it makes a few bob for the chip shops and pubs, it doesn't matter if it upsets people.
