MADONNA MOSCOW DATE MOVES

The day and location of Madonna's planned Moscow debut has been shifted. The day-larded-with-significance of the fifth anniversary of the September 11th 2001 attacks has now been dropped in favour of the 12th; and the gig has been picked up from the planned University location and taken instead to the Luzhinki Stadium:

"Luzhniki is more convenient from the point of view of security — we are sure that this is very good news for all Madonna fans in Russia," Anton Atrashkin, the press secretary for the Russian leg of Madonna's Confessions tour told the Associated Press. The new date would mean there was "no connotation or parallel with this tragic date in world history," he said.

And, of course, doesn't clash with the sporting event being held in the stadium on the 11th.

There have been protests against the Madonna tour coming to Moscow at all - 12 members of the Russian Orthodox Church were fined last week after a demonstration against plans for her self-agrandising giant crucifix stage entry.

It's Luzh-n-i-ki. Sorry, carry on.
