Having connected in some way with David Beckham on an earlier trip to Europe, P Diddy is keen to pull off the trick of showing he's relevant to the young people of Englandshire by hanging out with another soccergame player.

Rather than ringing Peter Crouch, though, he's had his people invite Wayne Rooney and the woman out the Asda trouser adverts as his guests for the MTV Europe awards.

Diddy is even rumoured to be planning an appearance at the Manchester United game in Copenhagen at the same time - where he'll feel at home, watching a bunch of overpaid prima-donnas sleepwalking through something that used to be a vital force that's turned into little more than a sponsorship opportunity.
