Thom Yorke - no, really, he's like Chuckles

It's not the sort of intervention that's really going to do much for your reputation: it might be nice for someone to stand up and say "Thom Yorke's not as gloomy as you might think", but when that someone is Michael Stipe - hardly known for his appearances on Hollywood Squares - it's not really that convincing:

"Thom in person is not as cheerless as the media like to portray him. We have suffered the same thing for years, just because my band's music leans towards the darker emotions.

"I'm happy to report that Mr Thom Yorke is a very happy and a very well-rounded and very smart person."

Well, next to you, perhaps.
