Avril: I write the songs which make the whole world sob

We might have been giving the impression of late that Avril Lavigne is perhaps the most self-regarding person in the music industry at the moment.

Actually:

So many people can relate to [When You're Gone] in different ways, whether it's someone going off to war... or losing someone or even just breaking up with someone, or simply just missing someone because you're going away.

"This song was very unique for me (because) it's the first song ever where
when I played it for the first time to all my friends... every single one of
them cried. It was the weirdest thing."

... actually, she might just be the most self-regarding person in any industry, ever.

its sort of irritating when you make pointed fun of people in the music industry who are never ever going to read your criticism of them. at least when it's say, lily allen, i can have the satisfaction of knowing there's a chance your derision might reach her personally somehow.

but with avril...i just feel hopeless.

Ah, but I picture Avril sitting at a big desk - a bit like Eminem in the Stan video - working her way down the Google results, putting marks on one side for 'h8rs', and one for 'lovRz'...

"very unique"? - it either is unique or it isn't love. Actually, I cry when I hear ANY of Avril's songs, but this may not be quite what she means.
