Faulkner's mouth
Neil McCormick met with singer-songwriter Newton Faulkner for the Telegraph (apparently he hates being called a singer-songwriter, which is probably fair enough as most people only seem interested in his cover of Teardrop.
Neil was excited to meet someone who he feels came up under the radar:
Faulkner is Britain's latest word-of-mouth musical sensation. Relentless touring and a growing internet fan base propelled his debut album, Hand Built By Robots, to number one for two weeks in July.
Yes, his sales are driven by word-of-mouth: people gathering at watercoolers and saying "have you heard that bloke who's got the Sony BMG marketing department behind him on Jo Wylie's show over and over again?"

Give the guy a break! Surely you must realise that what ends up in print these days only bears a vague resemblance to what people actually say. They take the bits they want and turn them what they think is a 'story'. Been following Newton for a while and he filled venues & sold out his early EPs long before Sony were around. Go see him live, that's why he's got where he is!
Erm... anonymous, the comment about Faulkner comes from the journalist who wrote the piece. Neil McCormick might be many things, but he's unlikely to misquote himself.
Are people he doesn't know still trying to kill Neil McCormick, do you think? And if so, how incompetent are they not to have succeeded yet? Maybe they're going after Bono by mistake (in which case, good luck to 'em).
I think people he doesn't know have given up, although several people who know him only too well are still plotting something.
