Steve Brookstein: A warning from history
Remember Steve Brookstein? He was the winner of the first X Factor. Now, though, he's doing pizza restaurants in Kent. Although fifty people turned out, which isn't bad for a bloke who was briefly famous in 2004. We don't know how good the pizza is, though - it could be that it's very good and will bring out a crowd even if you have to listen to Steve Brookstein singing while you eat it.
We suspect that Steve's jokes about the X Factor that pepper his set are designed to show he's not a sore loser, but the obsession with the show and does tend to make him sound a little... well, bitter.
The kick:
... says the man who got a huge chance, despite limited talents, and blew it.

The poor bastard can't win with you, can he Simon?
Had he not been so self-depracating, and instead made barbed and snide comments about the X Factor, you'd have him nailed up for it.
Whether you realise it or not, there are occasions where you go out of your way to act the bitchy little twat for the sake of acting the bitchy little twat - and this is one.
Except, anonymous, unless you were there, neither of us can actually tell what tone of voice he used for his comments - they might have been well-meaning, they might have been snide. But the little jibe at Leon Jackson suggests there's more than a little bitterness there, and certainly, the constant "I was on the X Factor, me" references suggests a man fixated on his small moment in the spotlight and unable to let go.
anon: Brookstein could have "won" by not continually bringing up X-Factor and, apparently, making "digs" at the judges.
It would have been smarter to either not refer to the show at all or to do so only a couple times in a gracious, self-deprecating manner. Less likely to appear as a bitter has-been who hasn't moved on, you see.
Hi Simon i was there it's a great venue Steve was great his singing was brill. As for the comments it was a joke he wished Leon well and said he had a great tone to his voice. As for 50 people i did not count but i do know down stair's was full and so was upstairs you can only get 100 people in there.I go to all his gig's and never come away dissapointed.
