Zapsmart: Music on TV and Radio today

1.00 6Music - Cerys Matthews
Folk blues Christmas tunes from the Smoke Fairies

7.30 BBC2 - TOTP2 Christmas Special
Pretty much the same line-up as every TOTP Christmas Special, but now with Mark Radcliffe rather than Steve Wright doing the talking bits. Didn't Stuart Maconie used to write some of Wright's script back in the past? That's going to make things awkward back at home, isn't it?

8.00 ITV - The Nolans: In The Mood For Dancing
We keep hearing about how much money the X Factor has pumped into the ITV war chest. And yet they're still filling an hour of prime time with the reunion of a band who - frankly - nobody much humped about back when they were going. Next week: Bucks Fizz?

8.00 Sky 1 - Michael Jackson's Private Home Videos
No. Not like that.

8.00 Radio 2 - Radcliffe And Maconie
Assuming they're still talking, mind. Thea Gilmore's in session trying to keep the peace.

9.00 BBC2 - Grumpy Guide To Christmas
Ozzy Osbourne turns up to tell us what annoys him at Christmas. Time, surely, for this franchise to be allowed to slip away quietly in a comfy armchair?

10.00 Keeping Tradition Alive
Tonight, it's Julie Fowlis' turn, with Welsh traditional tunes

12.30am Channel 4 - Editors Live At Fabric
Probably worth the Sky+ space until a rainy day

Maconie wrote for Johnnie Walker in the first, not just archival version of TOTP2 that no-one remembers.

Ooh, now you mention it, I remember the 'when it had its own material' era - the episode of TOTP where I cowered in the audience had some stuff filmed with the Dixie Chicks done for Pops2.
