Grammys 2013: Outrage as Grammys impose vague quality threshold
You know what almost nobody thought as they scrolled through the Grammy nominations list? "That's odd, there's no Justin Bieber here."
Almost nobody thought that. A few people did, though, and they are not happy. Yahoo spotted this on Twitter:
"Grammy board u blew it on this one. the hardest thing to do is transition, keep the train moving. The kid delivered. Huge successful album, sold out tour, and won people over. ... This time he deserved to be recognized,"I know what you're thinking - "bless that barely-literate fourteen year-old girl, impotently raging against the Grammy board." Let's hope someone brings her enthusiasm to the attention of Beiber's manager Scooter Braun, so that he can thank her personally. Yahoo, did you get the name of that Twitter user?
... Braun posted in a series of tweets.Oh.
It's not just Bieber fans puzzled by the way the Grammys have a quality threshold that allows through indifferent Katy Perry songs but blocks no less indifferent Bieber tracks; a barrier which cannot be crossed by the pintsized Canadian but can be penetrated by Ed Sheeran. (Stop making up your own punchlines.)
One Direction fans are also fuming. I think they're realistic enough to know that One Direction were never going to win a Grammy, but they were definitely hoping Zayn would pick up some waiting work for the launch ceremony and that never came through.
