Manson finally finds some straights to freak out

Ah, bless. Although he's normally tolerated in the same way that Barney the Purple Dinosaur and Ronald McDonald are, what Marilyn Manson really wants is to be thought of as scary and threatening.

So he was delighted when they wouldn't let him into Koln Dom. Straights! Freaked out! Quick, tell the papers:

He denies he was banned because of his Satanic views – Christian groups in the States have blasted him for albums such as Antichrist Superstar.

Marilyn didn't think cathedral staff recognised him and told reporters: "They didn't let me in because I was wearing lipstick."

Or perhaps they did recognise him, and just didn't want his vacuity in their cathedral. Or, much more likely, they were closed.

But "I went to a cathedral and it was closed" isn't quite as exciting for Marilyn, is it?

Apparently, he's in Cologne because some of his daubings are bing displayed:
Marilyn’s paintings include subjects such as late Superman actor CHRISTOPHER REEVE and Nazi terror leader ADOLF HITLER, who is depicted as a transsexual creature with breasts.

He said: "Either you like them or you don't."

No, actually, it's possible to be completely indifferent to them.

Editors silenced by German police

With the end of the G8 conference, where are all those fired-up German police going to work out their frustrations now?

By going tooled up to march Editors off the stage in Cologne, apparently. The band were "too loud":

"The venue was an old church over the road from a load of houses and, during our set, they called the police to complain about the noise," bassist Russell Leetch told NME.COM. "The first we knew about it was when the police turned up just as we were starting our encore and told our tour manager to stop the set."

You wouldn't want to risk a bustling barbecue in the Rhineland, would you?
