Shirley Manson is Kim Gordon, who is Tori Amos

It turns out that Buzzfeed's which whatever thing are you quiz might not be based on 100% scientific accuracy:

Moriarty is also hopping mad after being told he was Una Stubbs when he too which Sherlock character are you?

Kim Gordon's advice for dealing with a break-up

As shared with Elle:

"We never got to the point where we could just get rid of her so I could decide what I wanted to do," Gordon says. "Thurston was carrying on this whole double life with her. He was really like a lost soul." Moore moved out. Gordon stayed home and listened to a lot of hip-hop. "Rap music is really good when you’re traumatized," she says.

Moore and Gordon split

Never nice to hear of the end of a marriage, especially one that's lasted 27 years, but Kim Gordon and Thurston Moore have announced their separation. Besides the personal sadness, there's also a bit of a cloud over the long-term future of Sonic Youth between the lines of the statement from Matador:

"Musicians Kim Gordon and Thurston Moore, married in 1984, are announcing they have separated. Sonic Youth, with both Kim and Thurston involved, will proceed with its South American tour dates in November. Plans beyond that tour are uncertain. The couple has requested respect for their personal privacy and does not wish to issue further comment."
I suspect those South American dates will give an indication of if this is a 'still friends, still working together' split, or 'contractually obligations can't stop us throwing guitars at each others' heads' one.

Kim Gordon on the outside

There's nothing more dispiriting than 'rock star launches clothing line', but if it has to be done, you could do a lot worse than leave the rags-and-guitars crossover to Kim Gordon, who at least has a sense of self-awareness about what she's doing with her Mirror/Dash label:

“I know, every designer says they’re inspired by Françoise Hardy,” Ms. Gordon said. “But I’ve been listening to her records for 15 years.”

Gordon is aiming at the Cool Mums market - although it's not clear how many mothers would decide they're looking for something from the uncool mums part of the fashion world.

And if you had to choose between dressing like Kim Gordon or Victoria Beckham - well, it's pretty much a done choice, right?

The cat came back

More returning heroes: Free Kitten are putting out an album in May. Yes, they've not released anything (at least under the Free Kitten banner) for a decade or so. Since Sentimental Education, in fact. Inherit is out on Ecstatic Peace around May 20th.

Nuclear War set for July 2nd

Assuming, of course, Bush and Putin don't wipe us out before then in their 'who can piss the highest' contest, Future Pilot AKA is releasing the doubley a sided Tery Bina/ Nuclear War single on July 2nd.

The Sun-Ra Nuclear War cover features Alisdair Gray, Thurston Moore, Kim Gordon, Davy Henderson and Mike Watt. (That's Watt, as in Stooges, not Batt, as in Wombles.)
