WHAT IS THE DEFINITION OF EXTENDED?

When they annnounced that Top of the Pops was to be shunted off to BBC TWO, part of the promised deal was that it was being "extended" to allow it to include archive material (in other words, it was having TOTP2 folded into it); and, at least, it wouldn't be being crushed in a battle against Coronation Street for viewers any more. So the announcement yesterday that it was going to be going out at 7.00pm on Sundays from July 17th seemed curious - surely after the first thirty minutes, it'll be being crushed by the Corrie Juggernaut again?

Ah, but you don't need to worry, as it turns out that in this case "extended" means only five more poxy minutes.

The BBC are keen to stress that TOTP on BBC TWO will retain all its historical trappings - even down to the shit ideas at relaunch time. This time round, the production team are going to reach into Pops heritage and resurrect the idea of totally pointless guest presenters to stand alongside Fearne Cotton:

Other guests presenters will include Jeremy Clarkson, Mark Lamarr, The Osbournes and Reggie Yates.

Reggie Yates? Wasn't he one of the sods who sunk the ship in the first place?
