RIGHTO, SOMEONE TIDY UP AFTER ME

Having turned up with a brief to restore it to its former glories, and left it a screwed-up mess tucked away in the gloom of a Sunday night on BBC TWO, Andi Peters has quit Top of the Pops. Apparently, his decision to quit has nothing to do with the disaster that his stewardship of the programme turned out to be, and everything to do with wanting to retunr to presenting. Yes, some sort of daytime hospital thing. That would be a major step upwards.

The Idiot Peters should be clapped in irons and placed in some form of makeshift stocks outside television centre as penance for his heinous crimes against the person of totp.

I stopped watching it 4 years ago but tried 3 editions of the "new" Sunday night BBC2 bash.... and then gave up! Why can't we have a show that runs on the exact same lines as when it started out in 1964 - the music may have changed but the original format is as valid as it ever was. One presenter from a selection of good rotating regulars is sufficient, someone who "knows about the music" rather than some empty headed bimbo - and the presenter is NOT the show, that honour falls to the music and to the music alone. Stick to the Top 40 - you cannot call a new release that hasn't even been released yet Top Of The Pops, so leave them out until they are hits!
