Justin Bieber runs late

Justin Bieber needs to take a good hard look at how Peppa Pig does it: because when you're doing shows for children, you have to keep on time.

His UK dates have been running late - by as much as an hour at the Millennium Dome in Greenwich - with the result that mummies and daddies have turned up to pick up their kids, only to discover that the show hasn't yet finished:

"A few of the parents went up to the information desk to complain and they were saying there's nothing they could do and that 'It's just Justin Bieber's production team'.

"We said that was all well and good, but most of us have to get trains... it was just a shambles. I said we've really got to leave at ten to eleven to get the last train."

She added that people in the crowd began booing at about 21:30, almost an hour before Bieber's act eventually started.
The blame is being put on the support acts over-running, although if people were able to boo for a solid hour before Bieber eventually came on, that seems a bit of a stretch.

Bookmarks: Some stuff to read on the internet: Michael Jackson

Diamond Geezer heads down to Greenwich on what would have been the first night of Jackson at the O2:

Many of the crowd had come dressed in at least one item of MJ apparel. Black hats were especially popular, although I looked around in vain for the street vendor knocking them off at a fiver a time. One or two wore white gloves, a couple sported rather more sparkly gems than is socially acceptable, and there was even one red satin tour jacket circa 1984. But the main item signifying membership of the Jackson cabal was the commemorative t-shirt. Be it respectful, exuberant or a bit cheap - the message was more important than the material. My favourite was the plain white t-shirt with the slogan "I HATE MARTIN BASHIR". Martin, thankfully, had had the sense not to turn up.

Jackson "not sick"

I don't think there's a person alive, or indeed who has died in the last ten years, who would have expected Michael Jackson to turn up for all the booked London dates. But did anyone think they'd be falling apart quite so soon?

The first dates have, as you'll know if you weren't in the air all day yesterday, been "pushed back". But it's not because Jackson's sick or anything. Oh no, no no. No. No no:

AEG Live president Randy Phillips said the rescheduling had "absolutely nothing" to do with the star's health.

He added: "I would trade my body for his tomorrow. He's in fantastic shape."

I wouldn't go round saying stuff like that, Randy. Not only does it make you look and sound ridiculous, but I suspect Jackson might have a team of surgeons who have been waiting for just that sort of offer...

The official line is that the gigs have been pushed back due to "technical difficulties". The first night will now take place five days late, while some other July dates will not happen. Sorry, that should be "not happen until March 2010".

Michael Jackson: I gather we're meant to think this is a lot

Sure, it's enough to make sure that the Millennium Dome will be full each night, but 350,000 registering their interest for Michael Jackson in Greenwich doesn't sound like a lot to me. Not given the hype.
