Just now, on Today, James Naughtie challenged Jacqui Smith over the timing of the Home Office announcement of plans for tighter restrictions on international travel for people convicted of sexual offences against children. Isn't this, he wondered, merely a knee-jerk style reaction to the release of Gary Glitter.

"Cases like this" replied the Home Secretary "highlight the questions we should be asking."

That would be a "yes", then.

Goodness. Really? The government is lining up Kate Moss to do 'say no to drugs' adverts?

Home Secretary Jacqui Smith wants showbiz stars to help discourage youngsters from trying deadly Class A substances. It is part of her new 10-year anti-drug strategy which starts in March.

So, there's a possibility that a ten-year strategy might at some point seek celebrity disendorsements during its run. With no mention of Kate Moss at all.
