The McCartneys taste test the ready meals

We're now being asked to believe that the McCartney family sample every one of the ready meals which carry the branding of Linda McCartney:

Daughter Mary, 38, says, "It's really personal to us because it is carrying on mum's message. We know what she would and wouldn't have wanted."

The Yesterday singer adds, "Nothing goes through without the MCCartney say-so. It has to, because it's our name on the packet."

Of course, given Paul's recent taste in hair, music and wives, it'll probably be for the best if he's kept out the loop as his judgement seems cock-eyed. But then again, having tasted the Linda range, if it is getting sign-off from the family, it must be by someone who doesn't have much discrimination. Have you tried the Shepherd's Pie? How do you make vegetarian gristle? And why would you bother?

Fundraiserobit: Jimmy Pascoe

Jimmy Pascoe, who raised funds for the Linda McCartney Breast Cancer Campaign with a mechanised teddy bear disco in Church Street, Liverpool, has died. Pascoe had been a fixture in the city centre for several years; he once represented Liverpool's street entertainers at an international event in Hamburg.

When life gives you lemons, you make lemon dressing for Nigel Slater

Jim McCabe emails with news of Paul McCartney (and Stella and Mary's) visit to Nigel Slater's house making Linda McCartney recipes. He asks:

Am I being unduly cynical in seeing this fawning piece as the latest PR salvo ahead of the divorce case?

Cynical? Probably not - and, I suspect, there's something of a piece with McCartney's not-very-hidden messages about Linda in the new album. It's not only as if Paul is attmepting to appeal to us to take his side and forgive him the Heather adventure - it's like he's appealing to Linda, as well.

This one's for Linda

We'd always thought that Paul McCartney had named Flaming Pie in honour of Linda - as in "Her brand of veggie food would have had a lot more respect were it not for that Flaming Pie which got into the shops full of meat revealing that the range was made as a way of ensuring that the meat pie production line was more efficient by not having as much downtime". But maybe not.

Instead, the next McCartney album is going to be called Memory Almost Full.

Which, you know, is obviously an anagram of For My Soulmate LLM.

It's also an anagram of "a fuller slot, Mommy" and "farm yells loot, Mum", which we're sure Linda would have wanted.
