THE PRICE OF T

One of those slightly over-optimistic surveys into the effects of the festivals has decided that T in the Park generates £18 million for the local economy of Perth and Kinross.

It's not clear if this includes the money generated from selling tickets, and then cancelling them, but apparently is reached by adding £7.5 million in actual money to "another £10.5m to tourism through worldwide media coverage."

This seems a little... over-generous to us. Ten and a half million quid in tourism? How many people are visiting Perth and Kinross to see the site of the T festival? We're a little bemused as to how this figure has been arrived at. We're far from convinced that very few people who see footage of Bobby Gillespie waggling his arse under a giant advert for a lager company would realise they're looking a show coming from Perth and Kinross at all, much less be packing their bags and firing up Expedia.
