Don't tell me it's Ovi
Ovi, Nokia's sub-brand which they slapped on to Comes With Music just before they killed that off, is, in its turn, being axed:
The changeover was announced on Nokia's Ovi blog by editor Pino Bonetti.The main motivation for the tidying-up, they say, is to make it easier when Nokia rolls out its exciting Windows 7 phones - you can do spreadsheets on them, you know - with all the access to Microsoft's store. Or so they say.
He wrote: "The main reason for this change is so we can leverage the high-value of the Nokia master brand to better support future plans to deliver disruptive and compelling mobile experiences globally."
Really, it's because it's a brand that never captured the imagination. Ovi and out.

Erm...maybe I'm not down with managementspeak or perhaps my recent birthday has seen me become too long in the tooth for any kind of giddy thrill but why the living fuck would I, or anyone else, want a "disruptive mobile experience"?
from rumours i've heard its because theres a good chance microsoft will be buying nokia outright soon and branding everything in their own way...
i cant wait for the TRULY AMAZING "microsoft E7" mobile phone.

Markie - I'm not sure what's so great about a 'disruptive mobile experience' either, but I've got a Nokia 5800 that delivers it in spades. The first one I had died while I was abroad, and the replacement they sent me had this brilliant feature whereby the charging port didn't work at all, meaning I have to take the battery out every three days, put it in the wife's phone, charge it there, then take it out and put it back in my phone. Doesn't get much more disruptive than that.
Oh yes, also; Up yours, Nokia. You bastards.
