The illustrated Friends: Terence Stamp

And so, with the bank holiday weekend nearly over, we reach the last of Adam Ant's friends. Terence Stamp - actor-turned-breadmaker; former flatmate of one of the other Friends (he shared with Michael Caine for a while); and voice of the Prophet Of Choice in Halo 3.

Interestingly, Stamp's Wikipedia entry makes no mention at all of his Terence Stamp wheat-free bread product range The Stamp Collection; it seems to have vanished in the last couple of years although you can still get cookbooks under the name.

What does get mentioned on Wikipedia - and, thus, repeated here - is Stamp's guest appearance in a Bright Eyes video. This one:

With which, I think that's job done. Thanks for following this over the weekend. Maybe one bank holiday weekend, I'll get really brave and try Hot Topic...

New Conor Oberst stuff

"It's no good" sighed Conor, toweling himself off - hair first, then chest - "I'm a serious artist. I'm not some sort of fanfic character for you to toss off over whenever you choose." He flung his towel to the ground, and stood there, hands on hips, thrust forward.

"But really, are you a better musician than you are a smouldering-eyed beauty?" snickered the figure on the bed, concentrating more on the shadows falling across Oberst's thighs than his pleas to be taken seriously. Over the last few hours, he'd learned first to ignore Conor's pleas, and then to enjoy them, up until the moment when the floppy-haired musician half-screamed, half-breathed their agreed safeword: Jackwhite, Jackwhite, Jackwhite... His attention returned to what Conor was saying:

"I did an instore, played some tunes, you can find them on It's Hard To Find A Friend. You judge for yourself... am I a fanfic figment, or am I a great musician?"

Dragging Oberst back onto the bed, his partner silenced him with a kiss: "Oh, I will go and see how that compares... but first, let me remind myself where you've set the bar..."

Eyes less bright

Conor Oberst has pulled the UK Bright Eyes gigs as he's quite overcome with a fever:

With regret Brght Eyes has cancelled this week's shows and appearance at V Fest (Bristol Aug 15; Liverpool Aug 16; Nottingham Aug 17; V Fest Aug 18 & 19). Illness has forced the cancellation. Bright Eyes would like to express their utmost thanks to all their fans and supporters and sincerely apologize for this unfortunate occurrence.

Poor Conor, lying in bed, sweaty, twisting, turning, unable to settle, his pyjamas sticking to his skin... uh... ahem. Yes. He hopes to be well enough for the forthcoming Alaskan dates next month.
-You do know, smiled Conor, that isn't the best place to put a thermometer...
- I know that... but I didn't say I was going to be using a thermometer to take your temperature. Now, turn over
- I'm sick, you know.
- I sure as hell hope so...

Baby's Got A Temper

Conor Oberst threw a tantrum and an amplifier when the Shepherds Bush Empire sound failed to live up to what he wanted to hear.

He the lobbed Mike Mogis' guitar across the stage, too.

'Calm down, Conor', he screamed, trying to avoid letting his eyes be drawn to the veins, the pumping blood, as Oberst swelled with passion... but Conor would not, could not be calmed. He knew what he wanted, and if he had to wrestle every instrument in the city, Conor would get his satisfaction...

Eyes and ears

Talking of Conor Oberst, the young man with most eyelike eyes in the music industry is currently streaming his new album, Cassadaga, from the Saddle Creek records website. There's also a couple of free MP3 downloads, and if you get the right keystroke combination, video of a naked Conor Oberst, lashed to a waterwheel, being pawed at by a gang of scrawny androgynous young peoples.

We may have just dreamed one of those parts.

Conor in Europe

Lovely-eyed beauty Conor Oberst is coming to Europe, for a few Bright Eyes dates:

22nd March Oslo Compolite
24th Stockholm Debaser
26th Berlin Columbia Club
27th Cologne Gloria
30th Paris Cafe de la Danse
31st Amsterdam Melkweg

Aah... Conor... in the Rhineland... Following Conor up the Koln Dom's narrow, spiral staircase was tantalising... just in front of my eyes, his perfect little arse, pumping up and down, up and down, as his breath came in short little bursts. "Nearly there... nearly there... nearly there" he kept muttering to himself, gently under his breath, for all the world like he was attempting to hold off the moment of ejaculation...

Meat (free) Conor Oberst

A quick plug for PETA's video interview with Conor Oberst, the acceptable musical face of veganism (i.e. not the one you want to slap - hello, Moby).

It's curious that the meat eating, fox-killing majority don't manage to get anyone cool to talk on their behalf - aside from the people tempted to by McDonald's cash to promote their products. Nobody ever really pops up saying "Meat is cool", do they?

At last: An alternative to just having Christmas Wrapping on a loop

Bright Eyes' Conor Oberst is doing a Christmas album - available only online in aid of a Nebraska Aids charity. It's got Little Drummer Boy and everything on it.
