Zutons, Coral, Summertyme against fracking

There's plans afoot to smash the bedrock of Wirral to pieces in order to release some fossil fuels, because if we don't burn that gas we might not be able to hit the oil industry's target of making the planet uninhabitable by 2020.

There's protests against the plan, including a gig with some Merseyside luminaries:

The Fight UCG and Fracking gig is being organised by Wirral band The Sundowners with Zutons guitarist Paul Molloy. It will feature sets from Viper Kings with guests Dave McCabe (Zutons) and James Skelly (Coral), Ian Skelly and the Serpent Power, We Are Catchers, Sundowners (acoustic) Edgar Summertyme and Marvin Powell.
There's a petition on 38 Degrees if you'd like to add your voice without having to listen to The Zutons.

Dave McCabe hands over the cash

As part of the sentence for headbutting a bloke in the street, The Zuton's Dave McCabe has been ordered to pay his victim £1,500.

The Independent had clearly been scanning album sleeves for appropriate songs:

The star - whose songs include Calm Me Down and Havana Gang Brawl - had attended his mother's 60th birthday party earlier in the evening.
I bet they were disappointed that he'd never done a song called Drunken Mistake. Perhaps for the next album, eh?

Who said The Zutons can't get a hit any more?

Dave McCabe, him out The Zutons, has been convicted of assault after headbutting a guy who said that his girlfriend's fur coat made it look like she had a beard.

Sentencing will take place on October 29th; McCabe is out on bail until then but the judge warned him not to assume that means he won't be going inside later.

Zutons otherwise engaged

Dave McCabe out the Zutons is setting his phone to vibrate:

"She's an older lady," McCabe told the Daily Star. "In her late 40s, I think - and she won't leave me alone.

"She’s got my mobile number and keeps sending me pictures of herself with her tits out."

Meanwhile, somewhere in the country, a couple are reunited after one of them has spent some time on a business trip. She is blanching.

-"o-nine-seven- three?"
-"Yes, three. Not eight. I thought it was funny I didn't hear from you while I was away. Did you send me any interesting texts?... Honey? Are you alright?"

It's not just journos and crack dealers making money from Amy

Some positive news about Amy Winehouse: Dave McCabe from The Zutons has made so much from the royalties he's got from Mark Ronson covering Valerie, he's invested in bricks and mortar and got a foot on the housing ladder with a house in Liverpool. The Daily Star reckons he's hoping it's going to be a big hit in America; must mean he's got an eye on a penthouse in Beetham Tower.
